I love coming across a bundled collection of old vintage postcards and photos, where places and people are captured in a time of no transference of colour. Iconic scenes mix with personal, discarded moments, precious handwritten thoughts on the reverse side. It was once an important connection, a way to exchange information & communicate, the distance between sending & receiving often taking weeks. Today we send a never ending string of instantaneous texts, direct messages, effortless emoji's & images. The creativity & thoughtfulness is absent. So, in this age of immediate communication forms, i wanted to bring back the beauty of a small photographic souvenir as a homage to this time.
The photo records a beautiful visit to a dear friend's home in the Dandenongs with my twin sister whose reflection appears in the garden shed window.
